To preserve peace and order throughout the protest, the police have deployed about 100 officers in each zone.
Amristar SP Harjit Singh said that “We will ensure that no violence occurs during this protest”

The call for a bandh follows recent events in Manipur, where tensions have been high and the state has been on fire for the past three months due to ethnic clashes between the Meities and Kukis after the Manipur High Court urged the state government to take the Meiteis into consideration for inclusion on the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs).

Crime Branch Cracks Down on Inter-State Racket Selling Online Chinese Manjha, Three Arrested https://www.newsx.com/crime-branch-cracks-down-on-inter-state-racket-selling-online-chinese-manjha-three-arrested/ https://www.newsx.com/crime-branch-cracks-down-on-inter-state-racket-selling-online-chinese-manjha-three-arrested/#respond Sat, 29 Jul 2023 12:15:17 +0000 https://www.newsx.com/?p=750062 In a major operation, the Crime Branch of Delhi-NCR successfully busted an inter-state racket involved in the online sales of banned Chinese Manjha. Three individuals, identified as Ali Hasan, Harsh Vardhan Khatri, and Ritik Kumar Chaurasia, were apprehended in connection with the illegal trade, and 201 rolls of banned Manjha were seized during the raid.

The police received crucial information about the illegal sale and purchase of Nylon-based banned Chinese Manjha in the Madanpur Khadar area of Delhi. Acting swiftly, a trap was laid, and Ritik Chaurasia was apprehended. Upon searching his shop, the authorities recovered 16 rolls of the prohibited string. It was later revealed that Ritik Chaurasia was actively selling the banned Chinese Manjha both online and offline, using social media platforms like Facebook to expand his illicit business.

Following further leads, raids were conducted at different locations, leading to the arrest of Ali Hasan in Jawahar Colony, NIT Faridabad, Haryana. A staggering 116 rolls of different brands of banned Chinese Manjha were seized from his residence. The accused individuals were found to be engaged in this illegal trade with the sole aim of making easy money.

How the crackdown of Chinese Manja began

Ritik Chaurasia, residing in JJ Colony, Madanpur Khadar, Delhi, had studied up to the 12th class and previously ran a shop on the ground floor of his house. Driven by the high profit margins in the banned kite string trade, he shifted to selling Chinese Manjha and utilized social media platforms like Facebook to promote his business.

Harsh Vardhan Khatri, hailing from Faridabad, had a BBA degree from Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru College in 2014. After unsuccessful business ventures, he resorted to selling Chinese Manjha using social media networks, posting pictures and videos of kite flying to attract potential buyers.

The third accused, Ali Hasan, also from Faridabad, had completed his ITI diploma and was the main supplier of Chinese Manjha in the areas of Faridabad, Gurugram, and Delhi/NCR.

The crackdown on this illegal racket was initiated after unfortunate incidents were reported where people, animals, and birds lost their lives due to the use of banned Chinese Manjha. The Crime Branch, thus, took up the task of closely monitoring the sale and dealers of this deadly string in the Delhi-NCR region to curb its illegal trade and prevent further harm.

Joshimath:  Evacuation From Danger Zones, Choppers On Standby https://www.newsx.com/joshimath-evacuation-from-danger-zones-choppers-on-standby/ https://www.newsx.com/joshimath-evacuation-from-danger-zones-choppers-on-standby/#respond Sat, 07 Jan 2023 09:50:13 +0000 https://www.newsx.com/?p=735961 Uttarakhand On Saturday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will visit Joshimath, Uttarakhand’s “sinking town,” to inspect the situation following the collapse of a temple and many residences. He has ordered the evacuation of around 600 households.

Here’s a primer on the major story:

  1. The Centre has assembled a team of experts to conduct a “rapid study” of land subsidence. According to authorities, a committee will investigate the consequences of ground subsidence on human populations, buildings, roadways, infrastructure, and riverine systems.
  2. “Our top priority is to save lives. Officials have been directed to relocate around 600 families living in threatened homes in Joshimath to safer sites “Chief Minister Dhami stated that both urgent and long-term action plans should be developed right away.
  3. Medical care facilities should be ready on the ground, and procedures for airlifting individuals should be established, the Chief Minister added, while directing the treatment of danger zones, sewers, and drainage to be expedited.
  4. On Friday evening, a temple fell here, and other houses have developed massive fissures, alarmed people who live in constant fear of a big tragedy.
  5. Locals attribute the problem to climate change and ongoing infrastructural construction. The sinking, according to experts, has been caused by a number of reasons, both natural and related to human activities. According to Kalachand Sain, director of the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, the variables are not new; rather, they have been accumulating over a considerable amount of time.
  6. According to Dhami, there should be an appropriate deployment of local, state, and federal disaster response personnel, as well as the establishment of a catastrophe control room in the municipality. Additionally, services for helicopters will be made accessible to assist anyone in need.
  7. Joshimath serves as the entry point to important Hindu and Sikh pilgrimage sites including Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib. A significant military facility is also housed there close to China’s border with India.
  8. The largest ropeway in Asia, the Auli ropeway, has been shut down when a significant fracture appeared beneath it.
  9. Due to the frequent and powerful flow of water, it is believed that the Marwari neighbourhood in the town, where an aquifer ruptured, has been the most severely affected.
  10. On the request of the locals, all building works for major projects including the NTPC’s hydroelectric plant and the Chardham all-weather road (Helang-Marwari bypass) have been halted till further notice. According to the state administration, tenants who must leave their homes due to damage would get 4,000 per month in rent from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the ensuing six months.

Haridwar: ‘Har Ki Pauri’ Wearing a Deserted Look Amid Severe Cold Conditions https://www.newsx.com/haridwar-har-ki-pauri-wearing-a-deserted-look/ https://www.newsx.com/haridwar-har-ki-pauri-wearing-a-deserted-look/#respond Thu, 29 Dec 2022 08:01:37 +0000 https://www.newsx.com/?p=735313 The Meteorological Department has issued a 48-hour Orange Alert, which includes Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. People who live in the plains claimed that because of extreme cold waves and hazy circumstances, they are having a lot of difficulties.

Ghats at the famed Har Ki Pauri, which were formerly crowded with pilgrims, are now vacant. Every year, the administration set up a bonfire for the convenience of the faithful, but this year, the local government did not.

The authorities, according to devotees, failed to make heating arrangements for those coming from afar this year.

According to the pilgrims who travelled from Dharmanagar to Har Ki Pauri, the extreme cold prevented the usual population from gathering on the ghats. The government hasn’t set up any heating either.

“This place is quite chilly. There aren’t many followers here. Prem Sharma, a devotee from Delhi who had travelled to Haridwar, said that the water was “chilling.”

We arrived in Haridwar. This region is being hit by a cold wave. There are no heating systems in place. This year, there aren’t many devotees here, said Varanasi-born Subodh Kashi, another devotee.

The same worries were also voiced by the Pandits of Har Ki Pauri.

“Cold has left Har Ki Pauri virtually deserted. The firm hasn’t even made any plans for a burning. Who will visit Har Ki Pauri if the devotees are not provided with the amenities? In the past, the Municipal Corporation would supply the Forest Department with wood for the bonfire. However, now that it has ceased, the cold has left individuals in poor health “they claimed.

AIIMS: Hospital data recovered after cyber attack https://www.newsx.com/aiims-hospital-data-recovered/ https://www.newsx.com/aiims-hospital-data-recovered/#respond Wed, 30 Nov 2022 03:30:58 +0000 https://www.newsx.com/?p=731999 After a week of dealing with a significant cyber intrusion, AIIMS New Delhi made a breakthrough on Tuesday night. The hospital claimed to have retrieved data from e-hospital software that had become obsolete following the hacking of the institute’s primary and backup servers in a cyber security incident last week.
Until then, the hospital’s services, including outpatient, inpatient, and laboratory services, will be performed manually.

“The e-Hospital data on the servers has been restored.” Before services can be resumed, the network is being sanitised. Due to the volume of data and the vast number of servers and computers used for medical services, the procedure is taking some time. “Measures for cyber security are being implemented,” the institution stated in a statement.

According to sources, the institute’s data restoration claim came after a meeting in the evening between officials from the Union Home Ministry and the National Investigative Agency (NIA) regarding the AIIMS incident.

Meanwhile, internal AIIMS sources described the claim as a “face-saving” ploy.

“In ransomware assaults, only two alternatives are presented—either comply to the hacker’s demand or launch an alternative to the service impacted by ransomware,” a senior IT official familiar with the matter stated. According to reports, the hacker has sought Rs 200 crore for the data of 4 crore patients held hostage.

However, the Delhi Police, who is also investigating the cyber attack event, refuted media reports regarding the hacker’s ransom demand. When contacted, AIIMS provided no more information on the data restoration promise.

Meanwhile, the institute has requested its teachers, staff, and other members who use the AIIMS intranet to install a special antivirus programme called SEQRITE ENDPOINT in order to combat the cyber security threat, according to sources.

All servers and computers in the institute are being formatted and sanitized, they added.
The November 23 cyber attack forced the hospital to shut down all digital services in patient care delivery areas.
